More Than I Can Chew

Once again, my chickens, I've gotten myself into something that I fear is far beyond my capabilities (see: grant writing, moving to Buffalo, teaching college, etc, etc). This time, it's not entirely my fault. I received a letter from a black studies journal inviting me to submit an article or to review a book for the next edition. Since I'm always buzzing with ideas but never actually with the research, I couldn't submit an article that does not exist, so I opted to review a book. And what a book it is! I got it in the mail yesterday - it's about Gullah culture! I'm looking forward to reading it because I was fascinated by the Gullah tongue while working on my MS. That said, I'm certain I'll have to read it several times in order to give it a fair and semi-coherent review. It's due in a MONTH! 'Tis the most wonderful time of the year indeed.

In other news (meaning that I forgot I had to review the book and instead bought something else equally as difficult to plow through), I got "Art as Experience" by John Dewey. I'm sure it's not going to be a riot, but I had to read a lot of Dewey in college, so I think this might be a good way to begin tying in my classes in January.

(An aside: I know it's early, but I already have had my coffee. Why, then, do my fingers insist on typing little gems like 'gein' for 'begin'?)

awwww, g'wan...you love the activity ! By the way, the clown act is more suitable to the D-man. Why not send the wig to Japan ???
love,
you-know-who

The wig is MIA, sadly. I would've loved to make it part of my daily attire. And yes, I do indeed love projects, but I started reading the Gullah book and keep thinking "How the hell am I qualified to review this?" Yikers.
